Collection for the Colonial Heights Animal Shelter
05/06/2011 - The Tussing SCA just had a wonderful service project of collecting food for the Colonial Heights Animal Shelter. We collected 800 cans and bags, toys and treats for dogs and cats at the animal shelter.
Caps ON for Cancer
04/15/2011 - Tussing Elementary in conjunction with the American Cancer Society once again sponsored Caps ON for Cancer. The entire student body along with the staff and faculty collected money for the two week period of April 4 through April 14. On the 14th the students and staff donned their caps and walked around the building in solidarity to stomp out cancer. Tussing Elementary was pleased to donate over $1,800 to the American Cancer Society!
Principal's Message
September 6, 2011 Tussing will open its doors for the 36th year to approximately 640 students and 99 faculty members. Faculty and staff have been anticipating the return of our current students as well as the new kindergarten class of 2011!! Each year brings with it promise for success, and we fully intend to make that happen in the 2011-2012 school year.
This coming fall look for the fundraising packet that will be coming home with your student. The funds generated through this project provide so many extra benefits to our school as a whole. To name a few of the things that our PTO provided for our school last year are books for our leveled bookroom, student planners that students use throughout the year, and field day t-shirts for the entire student body. Mrs. Kandi Edmonds, once again, will be our PTO President. Please take the time to join our PTO. Your participation is essential in making Tussing a great place to learn and grow.
Please come have lunch with your student at one of the holiday special lunches. Information will be sent home closer to the holidays. We hope you take an active role in your student's education, your participation shows them that school is important. Check backpacks every night, make sure they have plenty of rest and a good breakfast before they start their day.
We look forward to seeing you and your family at the many events which take place throughout the school year. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us at (804) 524-3440.
